Hand in Glove

I couldn’t sleep last night… I’m not sure why. So while laying in bed I was thinking about the dresses I saw last night at the Gabriella 1 year Anniversary party.
If you are in NY, or coming to NY to shop for dresses, you should DEFINITELY make an appointment at Gabriella’s fashion forward bridal salon. Anyway, she has this dress there (I should have found out who designed it) that is covered in feathers and then wrapped in tulle… sounds crazy, and hard to explain, but I want it. I’m not even getting married and I’d probably look ridiculous in it, but it was a stunning piece of design. I’d imagined coming down a long flight of stairs wearing gloves and, well, that’s what inspired this post today?

It’s not easy wearing gloves. You almost always need to buy them vintage, otherwise they tend to go “pageant” (most out there are LONG and satin for some reason) AND it just doesn’t go with EVERYTHING. I love all things vintage and sweet, so I wanted to pay HOMAGE to fabulous vintage gloves (of which I own many pairs, but, alas, I don’t get to wear them very much….I think I’m going to make this my goal for the fall… working GLOVES into more looks!)

Here, from Martha Stewart blog via Emmie Kay of Casey’s wedding. Casey, btw, peddles her vintage finds on Etsy and keeps up this GORGEOUS vintage inspired blog, which I am now obsessed with (I have a retro 50′s/60′s thing.. the Mad Men craze could continue forever as far as I’m concerned, since it’s been going on for
me personally for a while).

I found this bride on Evan Baines blog who paired her strapless, sweetheart gown with long gloves and looked just lovely. I love how classic and traditional it looks as she’s walking down the aisle!

And I just ADORED these short vintage gloves paired with this short, vintage dress, via Pretty Chicky!

And if you can’t make gloves work for you, then why not for your ‘maids??? How much do I ADORE these girls’ vintage inspired look. Somebody bring back pillbox hats, please!

If you are wondering where you can scoop up some great gloves, especially the vintage kind, Try Vintage Hat Box. Some pairs are as little as $10! For more glove-spiration, check out these two awesome posts from Vintage Glam and Real Weddings blog.

PS. I just re-read this post and wow, I kind of need to work on my social life. 4AM and I’m day dreaming about accessorizing bridal gowns… :-)
