2012: Rang in with a Wedding

It’s hard to believe that next week is Christmas and that we are just 10 days away from a new year… Since I opened my eyes and there was still a world outside, it appears that Mayra was wrong and the Mayan Calendar DOES still continue and the world hasn’t ended and we look forward to 2013 and what (when I was down in Quintana Roo, Mexico earlier this month) is being called “The New Consciousness.”  This year was a wild, crazy ride of seemingly non-stop pretty.  And with all that pretty-making, came a lot of crazy, frenzy, joy and, most certainly this fall, a lot of reason to reflect on what things are truly important in our lives.

This year we create beautiful environments for 12 couples to celebrate the beginning of their lives together. We traveled to the Jersey Shore, Virginia, Vermont, Maine and of course, up and down our favorite island, Manhattan. Mayra got married; I ran a Marathon and a seeming whirlwind of life happening in between. So, in what will probably be our last post of the year (maybe? probably?) I thought I’d close out 2012 with images from the wedding that started the year for us: Carolyn & Scott’s NYE Blow out shot by Inku. I’d posted some of these before, but, I thought I’d repost them in the hopes that it gets you in the holiday spirit as you head out to enjoy your friends and family this holiday season.

Cocktails and family photos were held in the adjacent, landmark theater.

The ceremony was held in a beautiful, nearby church. Before guests boarded shuttles to the reception, they saluted the newlyweds with giant Sparklers- a MAGIC MOMENT that set the tone for the night. The bride’s AMAZING Lazaro dress was from Kleinfeld- they made miracles happen turning it around in no time!

The bride wanted PURPLE, but to tie it in with the already existing holiday decor, we used RED as a contrast color and worked with the team in Asbury to decorate with more reds and silvers. To make the space feel more intimate, we angled the tables INTO each other and used candelabras for a glamorous look that added height. We also used assigned seating and had guests break British crackers to break the ice and as an homage to Carolyn’s years growing up in the UK. For escort cards each guest had their own glass of bubbly waiting for them to sip while they found their seat.

It was REALLY a magical and fun night! At midnight the bride changed and they toasted in 2012! Our team passed out noisemakers and more fun and dancing ensued. It was a blast! (and we were working)

THANK YOU again to Carolyn and Scott! And a HUGE thank you to Inku for these photos!

What’s so fabulous about our job is probably the fact that we get to be around such joyful moments!  Wishing you a very happy, happy Holiday season and a magnificent New Year!
