Cool Wedding Happenings in Brooklyn

In addition to the Martha Stewart/ Brooklyn Bride pop up Chapel at 303 Grand in Williamsburg, there is an array of cool wedding stuff happening in Brooklyn lately.  As you know (because I remind people incessantly), I’m a Brooklyn girl, born and raised and it makes me smile to see the burgeoning bridal business in my home boro.

First,  on Tuesday the 16th, there is going to be bridal showcase and runway show from Brooklyn based bridal designers at Morton’s at 339 Adams Street. Admission is free, but space is limited.  For details and registration, you can visit Love Brooklyn’s website.

If you are looking for invitations, Lion in the Sun has been a BK staple for years, offering an array of invitation lines as well as extremely gorgeous custom designs.  They actually just relaunched their website (with the same designers as our lovely little blog, MimoYMima) and if you are looking for cool Brooklyn things for your wedding or home, they have all of that and more.

If you are looking for petite desserts, cakes or even 7 layer cookies for your reception or shower, or what not, consider Anna’s Desserts. She is actually a former client and lately we’ve used her to provide sheet cakes, carrot cakes and other sweet treats for clients in need!  Of course, if you are looking for an more traditional wedding cake, you need look no further than Atlantic Avenue based Cheryl Kleinman.  Here is a terrible photo of an amazing cake she did for Sereh & Min’s Smack Mellon wedding.

And finally, literally, around the corner from my home, BAM is an amazing, hidden gem for wedding locations: BAM.  For Brooklyn residents, you will be shocked by the low, low rental fees and the amazing F & B packages offered from Great Performances catering.  The menus are diverse and largely locally grown from their farm. 450px-20061104_brooklyn_academy_of_music_howard_gilman_opera_house
