The Q: Hi! I am getting married on Valentine’s Day during the afternoon and I’m struggling with my decor. We chose Valentine’s day more because of the fact that it is my parent’s anniversary and the day that we met more than any big tie to the holiday…. so I don’t want it to seem like an explosion of cheese. That said, I feel like it needs to be romantic looking. I only have one bridesmaid and she is in black (I’ve been putting off this decision, so I thought I’d keep it neutral). Do you have any ideas/ suggestions to keep it looking festive and romantic, but to acknowledge the obvious holiday?
The A: Ok, I actually got this question a couple of weeks ago (sorry) and my first thought was lavender/ violet with pops of red. The red can sort of hint at the day, while the violet is such a romantic color, and it looks great by day or night. I saw this real wedding on Green Wedding Shoes that completely convinced me.

I loved this inspiration board from Snippet and Ink…. Its more summery than your wedding, but I loved the idea of using the fruits as pops of red… In lieu of a dessert station, it could be cool to set up a long table with lilac linen and have a DIY candy apple station. Add some tags and it’s a cute favor as well.. I saw a inspiration on how to here.
For something more winter themed, I found this board on Junebug Weddings... It’s fantastic. I love how they used the crystals as the napkin holders. You could scoop up some great items like that at an after-Christmas sale.

Best of luck to you in these final weeks!!!

love this purple palette! Its such a passionate, rich color!
Oh how fun to see my board up here! Purple and red is definitely a new favorite of mine that I never thought I’d like. Great post!
Another great idea to incorporat the rich purple-red shade is to use dark cabbage leaves in the flowers. Stunning.
