Hazel & Harlow Giveaway

Posted by on Dec 14, 2009 in Blog | 13 Comments

Thus far this holiday season, I’ve purchased 4 gifts for others and probably 5 gifts for myself.  I have an addition to jewelry and accessories, so this time of year- with everything all sparkly and pretty, it’s challenging to say to myself “Just walk away Xochitl… Just. Walk. Away.”  And I do… most of the time.

So with the spirit of giving to yourself (and to others) in mind, I am pleased to announce a Hazel & Harlow Giveaway!  On Monday the 21st, we will be gifting this stunning Hazel and Harlow Love Bird pendant away to one lucky reader.

From the hazel & harlow signature collection; absolutely stunning design, completely deco, completely unique! These precious love birds have been hand crafted, hand carved in 24K gold vermeil over sterling silver, with both white and green topaz stones to create a beautiful and romantic piece of jewelry.    The Pendant is hung from 18″ 24K gold vermeil chain.  Who wouldn’t want this??

How can you win? First, check out the Hazel & Harlow collection. (only the Hazel & Harlow colleciton, not the entire site).

Note which piece would make the PERFECT gift for someone special in your wedding party (or for you!) and why.  Then, come back here and leave us a note in the comments section about a) who you would give the Love Bird pendant to and why and b) what piece you would want for yourself and why?  Please link to any pieces in the collection.  As you know, with all contests on Always a Blogsmaid, humor is of the utmost importance, but sentiment goes a long way too.  The winner will receive this amazing Love Bird pendent….

And if you happen to see something you simply CAN’T wait for while you are on there- Hazel & Harlow are offering 30% off of the ENTIRE SITE (not just the Hazel & Harlow Collection- using Checkout Code Brides09.  If want to get the inside scoop on how to get deals on the other pieces, you can sign up for the Hazel & Harlow Facebook page, where they announce special offers, promos and sales.

We’re announcing winners on Monday!!!!

HOly cow this is cute!…or should i say Holy Love Birds! Not quite sure who i’d give the Lovebirds too…would love to give it to my fiance, but he’s not really into that wearing girly necklaces thing. So, perhaps he could give me the lovebirds instead. As for the other Hazel & Harlow pieces, I LOVE the antiqued round ‘life vine’ pendant and would have to give it to my bestie Leigh. She would just love those pink sparkly stones in it.

My grandparent’s just recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Their original cake topper featured birds almost similar to this. They are both avid bird watchers (well anything dealing with birds they love). This would make a great gift for my grandmother because I know that she would truly appreciate teh beauty of the pendant. Plus it would be a great gift to her for everything she’s done for not only me, but my entire family throughout the years. As for the piece from the collection that I love it is the moon pendant here I would probably give this one to my niece because she swears up and down she’s going to be an astronaut one day. Even though she’s 5 and will probably change several thousand times, we love to look at the stars and meteors showers whenever they occur (especially the one this past Sunday).

I would give the love bird pendant to my best friend Katelyn, because our junior high school was commonly plagued by SEA GULLS! The birds would dive bomb all of us awkward adolescents, and if you were really unlucky, splatter you with nasty, gunky white poop. On my best friend’s birthday, we were in the courtyard showing off her awesome bundle of birthday balloons, when not one, but TWO huge sea gulls flew over head and gave her a special birthday gift! The poor thing had to go to her next class with bird crap in her hair – we washed it out in the bathroom sink but with no shampoo, she had to endure her birthday with bird-bomb-hair! It’s a funny memory for us so I know she’d appreciate the not so subtle symbolism!

For myself, I love the humming bird pendant. My grandmother passed away eight years ago and she always loved humming birds. I am sad that she won’t get to see me walk down the aisle, so wearing a hummingbird would be my way of remembering her. Love it!

Oooh, I think the hummingbird pendant would be so perfect as a gift for my Mama on my wedding day because we have always has such a great time watching the hummingbirds outside of our Breakfast Room windows. She means so much to me, and I would love to give her such a fabulous gift!

Wowaweewa! The Antiqued Love Birds Pendant (shown above and here: would be P. to the E. to the R. to the FECT for my mom. Especially since she gave me her old wedding ring which is now my engagement ring. It’d be oh so nice to return the sentiment – and what a beauty!

And for me I’d love the Antiqued Bird on a Branch Pendant (seen here: What a lovely collection!

I would love to gift my little sister (Maid of Honor) the Love Bird pendant. She’s always told me how sick and tired she was that me and my older sister seemed to find it “easy” in love. (Although now she’s old enough and can get the juicy details on how imperfect past relationships were and how hard you have to work even when you do find the one you love!). Hopefully this would remind her of the possibilities that are out there and that she has to work hard to keep what she loves!

If I was so lucky (ha!), I would totally get the Hazel & Harlow’s Filigree ‘Horseshoe’ Pendant. I am what is known as the opposite of lucky. I am sure I will be even more of an outrageous mess on my wedding day.

Since I typically have trouble just walking on a level sidewalk, one of my biggest fears is that I will trip on some newly fall acorn or tree branch at my outdoor wedding ceremony. I can just imagine it – I trip before I get down the aisle. I definitely know with my clumsy penchant there will definitely be some interesting stories with my wedding!!

Hmm. I am not particularly humorous when it comes to jewelry, but I will lol all the way to the post office if I won! I’m truly head over heals for a rose is a rose is a ring in silver!

    a) I would give the Love Bird Pendant to my mom. She loves the 12 days of Christmas song but as we are immigrants fromAsia, sometimes she is mystified by things in American/ western culture. Like, “why is the partridge alone? It’s Christmas! The partridge should be with a mate, just like the turtledoves!”

    My mom is irreplaceable.

    b) For me, I like the antiqued magic feather pendant. I love birds!

I would give this necklace to my mother, who looks beautiful in gold jewelry! She is classic :)

For me, I would like the antiqued magic feather pendant. Feathers are a gift for those wish to fly.
