What They Did Right: Kali & Nick!

I was so excited when Carlos Varela sent over these great shots of the CLASSIC New York wedding of Kali & Nick! Carlos shoots with Elan Artists and is such a little cutie.  I actually met him when he first moved to New York and was a second shooter with Mel Barlow on Raquel and Josh’s wedding.  Anyway, I thought he did an amazing job.  Kali and Nick were married here in Manhattan last Augsut at at beautiful Greek Orthodox Church on the Upper East Side.  The reception of 200 guests was at the Boathouse and the Bride made the wise decision to use the trip to her advantage- portrait time! She splurged on a classic car, but saved on the flowers by going to Dyker Heights Floral… a Brooklyn based florist.

After their stop at the Met, they joined their guests at the Central Park Boathouse. As a planner, I love the Boathouse, but HATE getting guests inside… permitting vehicles can be a little time consuming, (though they do have a trolley). Well Kali and Nick decided to use PEDI-Cabs! AWESOME! I’m totally stealing that idea! The rest of the evening was apparently a HUGE party, filled with some great, traditional Greek dancing.  And don’t you LOVE the escort cards?  George Vellios of Dyker Heights Floral did the design and the BEAUTIFUL cake was done by SUGAR COATED. I’d never seen Sugar Coateds work before but, it is LITERALLY right down the street from my Junior High School. GO Shallow Lions!  (yes, I went to Shallow Junior High……)
