I must admit, I spaced on Mother’s Day this year – well, just about. I had a crazy and wonderful wedding this weekend that AABNJ ran and in which I was also the Matron of Honor. It was amazing and I was so happy to be a part of the planning and of course, play such a major role in my best friend’s wedding. However, mother’s day has been a slight casualty.
Thankfully mom is super understanding but of course, she is also incredibly hard to shop for. She says she has everything she needs -which I will agree she probably does, and also that there is nothing she wants. She loves to make it a challenge! I will work on this gift thing but at the very least, a special day (well… afternoon) of QT will be a great start. It’s been a crazy year with my own wedding hoopla last fall and she has been so supportive in every way! So… I look to my beloved Jersey sources for some great ideas. This amazing weather has me back into the brunch swing – I tend to take the cooler months off Here are some wonderful spots in the garden state. I owe NJmonthly.com big time for these great ideas!

There is nothing more inspiring than to see the best of the best coming together to create something even better. On Monday night, I was privileged enough to spend a few hours with some of the most talented and engaging industry professionals I have ever met. Don’t get me wrong, I have worked with and crossed paths with truly amazing individuals, but there was a special energy in the air at our Hoboken Housewarming. I wholeheartedly believe that birds of a feather flock together.
A HUGE thank you to Vivian @ the W Hotel for co-hosting this wonderful event with AABNJ. When you’re new in town, what better way to get to know your neighbors than inviting them over for cocktails! The W Hoboken is breathtaking and the NYC skyline was the perfect backdrop for such an exciting evening. The fireplace, delicious hors d’ oeuvres and specialty cocktails were EXACTLY what we needed to end a Monday and start the week. Fernanda @ Petali, thank you for creating such wonderful floral designs to help set the mood.
Colleagues, friends, brides, grooms & everyone who is ready to make it happen… Here’s to a bigger and better 2010.

Big thanks to Robert Wagner @ R.Wagner Photography for capturing the below!
Just stopping in to say a quick thanks to Rana Bridal for hosting last night’s AAB:NJ Ask a Planner event. For the lovely brides who braved the winds and flurries, so great to meet you all and best of luck!
Thanks to the amazing feedback and requests for Ask a Planner elsewhere, I am happy to report that more are on the way! Although I have had visions of bounding down the Turnpike in some sort of tricked out traveling consultant van (similar to the mobile post office), I decided to stick with the on-site visits. So… shout it out ladies and gents. Let me know if there is somewhere in particular you would like to see the “Plannermobile” make an appearance and I will do my best to make a stop in a town near you. In the meantime, we have a Millburn/Short Hills visit on deck – we’ll keep you posted!
Think…fun and quirky or elegant and stately. Whichever you decide, exchanging vows on a beautiful yacht is incredibly memorable, and has more to offer than you think. I felt exceptionally enlightened after a chat with Steven from World Yacht Events. I cannot believe the number and variety of vessels available to World Yacht clients and the range of capacities. They have boats that are perfect for an intimate wedding of 25 and can accomodate a grand affair with over 1,000 guests!
I intend to check this out for myself, but I hear the food is great and the menu options vast. Contrary to popular belief, the food is not prepped on shore then brought aboard and heated. All delectables for World Yacht events are prepared right on the ship. Another great facet of this venue – depending on which of their 25 vessels you choose, they are ready willing and able to work with your off-premise caterer. In fact, many clients with specific requests for kosher meals or ethnic specialties choose to go this route. World Yacht is very flexible with pricing and can customize a package based on your specific requests.
World Yacht Events has docking locations in the following areas:

A big thanks to World Yacht Events for the great photos. There are a TON more on their site and even a few online videos they can send you of actual event footage.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of touring the event space at the new W Hotel in Hoboken. This sleek, sexy and ultra-modern property just opened in March of this year and not a moment too soon! Situated right off the banks of the Hudson river, the hotel features breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline. The beauty of this space is that there are actually several smaller event spaces, in addition to a substantial main ballroom. Across from the ballroom there are chic, adjacent “studio” spaces that can be utilized individually as cozy vignettes or opened up to form one larger contiguous space. The entire second floor of the hotel houses the private event space, and with no more than one wedding at a time, you have total exclusivity. Plus there is a gorgeous restaurant within the hotel which could easily and stylishly host your rehearsal dinner or post-wedding brunch, and an outdoor patio for a breath of fresh air. Not to be forgotten, the exclusive W Hotel Whatever/Whenever concierge service is there to go that extra mile with tons of extras to help make your nuptials and celebrations that much more memorable and stress free! OMG did I forget to mention the huge and luxurious Bliss Spa on-site, and the 220 immaculately designed accommodations for you and your guests? Um, yeah…
Take a look at these great pics courtesy of the W…
If you are not familiar with Hoboken, it is a great little town right across the Hudson and literally 10 minutes from NYC. Tons of great restaurants, bars, boutique shops, waterfront parks – I can’t say enough about this place! If you are looking for sophisticated city style without the hustle, bustle and headaches that are sometimes synonymous with city life, the W Hotel Hoboken is a must see!
