We Take Challenges Very Seriously

Hello! A quiet week here on the blog usually means an insanely hectic one for The Blogsmaid. This week found Mayra and I in and around Lenox, MA. on an exploratory trip to the Berkshires with the Lenox Wedding Tour.

It was informative (and we saw so many cool locations, but that’s for another post) and… Surprisingly competitive! About a week before we left we and the other participants were each asked to participate in a “Table Top Design Challenge”. Four days later the email was ammended to remind us that this wasn’t a competition, just an activity. Yeah. Right. The Gaunlet was thrown down and the challenge was accepted. By us and the 16 other designer teams. Hilarity ensued.

Premise: we are able to select our invitation from custom designs by The Pink Orange . This was our table inspiration. We were allowed to bring our own props, select rentals from the local rental company and flowers would be provided by a local florist. We would have from 1-3 to set up.. but Mayra was going to have to start without me because I was participating in a Live Chat with Wedding Market News first. Wow! What happens next was slight pandemonium. The flowers arrived- only (enter Tim Gunn.. Clap, Clap “Designers, gather around!”) we needed to Mae our own arrangements ! And a lot of us had no knives, or scissors… Or floral vases. We got MacGuyver with some butter knives.

The most fun part about the whole thing is to see how other teams interpreted some of the same designs, below by My Bellissima did a super glamorous take on the same invitation.

For some more shots of our tabletop, check out our facebook page. For more on the Lenox Wedding Tour… wait till next week! In the meantime, wish me luck with the Philly Marathon!!! xoxo, Xochitl
